Laboratory Info The Laboratory for Genomics and Bioinformatics is a core facility offering an array of services aimed at facilitating the research of a variety of different investigators across a multitude of disciplines. Our current services include sequencing of DNA and RNA libraries using Next Generation sequencing technology, small scale/custom DNA sequencing with or without plasmid prepping, and fragment analysis. We also offer protein profiling services on the Beckman PF2D and can aid in your analysis of biomolecular interactions of proteins, nucleic acids and other molecules using BiaCore technology. In addition to these specific services, we are happy to discuss any of your project needs to determine if any of our other available technology can be of use. The facility has on hand several other pieces of equipment that are flexible in their use and therefore can be easily integrated into most existing protocols. These other options include the Nanodrop ND100 spectrophotometer, Beckman NX liquid handling robot, Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100 and Covaris sonicator. The Oklahoma INBRE award (P20RR016478) and COBRE award (5P20RR015564) from the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), provide this facility with infrastructure funds so that investigators can obtain functional genomic and bioinformatic data on various disease models focusing on Developmental Biology, Cancer, and Infectious Disease Research. Please feel free to contact Dr. Allison Gillaspy for further information on any of these topics or to set up a meeting to discuss your research needs at any time.

The PF2D by Beckman is a two-dimensional fractionation system that gives high resolution analysis of complex protein mixtures. The proteins are separated first by pI (1st dimension chromatofocusing) then further fractionated by hydrophobicity (2nd dimension reverse-phase chromatography). The 2nd dimension liquid fractions can be used immediately (ie: for mass spectrometry) or stored at -80°C for later analysis. [ read more ] |
